Document a Client and User Need P3

I am looking for a new logo for my company. The company is called roflpcs. The company sells computer parts and so it needs to make sure that there is something on there so you can see that the company sells parts. It also needs to grab the attention of the people who see it. It needs to have contact details on it and a link to my website www.roflpcs.co.uk. It also has to use colours that are relevant to a business, which is not lots of bright colours. The logo needs to fit on top of letters and on the website.

I am also looking for a poster for a fun fair. The fun fair is called LEEK FUN FAIR. The poster needs to have contact details on it such as a phone number and website. The poster has to be full of colour as it needs to grab the attention of anyone that passes by it. It needs to have the enterance fee on the poster and where it is situated. It needs to have very big text and make sure that people can understand it. The poster needs to be large and fit easily on a large wall.

I am also looking for another poster to advertise the upcomming new film Scott LOL. This film needs to be created to about A4 size have a large title. The title should be the film name but can be changed if you find something better to put as the title. The film is a scary film so dark and mysterious colours should be used. Blacks and dark reds are advisable i think.

Advanced Techniques M2

A Detailed Breakdown of a Creation of an Advanced Image

I have chosen to create a satin background to make as an advanced image. Below is a detailed 'How To' of the image.

Step One

The first thing you need to do is to select the brush tool, and make sure the brush has the blur on it. Choose the grey foreground colour and draw some broad swirls on the canvas. You can draw a few darker grey swirls if you wanted to.

Step Two

The second thing you need to do is to create a wave filter. To do this you need to click the filter tab then choose distort and finally wave. Below are the settings that you need to choose for the image.

Step Three

The next thing to do is to check if this is looking good. If you want to change some of the settings to get a more interesting swirl then you can do this now. Modify the wave filter settings to do this.

Step Four

The next thing to do is to create a bas relief filter, here you need to make sure the foreground colour is grey and the background colour is white. Then click the filter tab then choose sketch and then finally bas relief. The bas relief window will then appear. Copy the settings from the screenshot below.

Step Five

Now all you need to do is to add a guassian blur. To do this click the filter tab choose blur and then guassian blur. You can then choose a radius between 3 and 5 to get a good blur.

Step Six

You then need to add a gradient to the image. First of all you need to create a new layer. Then you need to choose the gradient tool and choose 2 gradient colours in the foreground and background colours. Select the gradient tool and choose background to foreground. Click and drag diagonally from the top left to the bottom right of the image. You can do this in any direction you want though. Now in the layers palette, set the blending mode to colour. You can also duplicate this layer and change the blending mode of this to multiply to make the colours deeper.

An example of what i created is below.

Advanced Techniques M2

A Detailed Breakdown of a Creation of an Advanced Image

I have chosen a small badge to be my advanced image. Below is a detailed 'how to' description of the badge.

Stage One

The first thing that you need to do is find an image you want to make a badge out of. Copy this image into Photoshop by copying and pasting the image into it. You can do this by opening the image in paint then pressing ctrl + a to select all the image, ctrl + c to copy the image. Then go into photoshop and press ctrl + v. The image should appear.

Stage Two

The second thing to do is to select an area you want to make into the badge. Use the Eliptical Marquee Tool to make a circle. With this area selected you then need to create a levels adjustment layer. To do this make sure the selection is selected and then press the layer tab, in the drop down menu you need to press new adjustment layer and then select layers. In the open window just press ok and the layer will be done.

Stage Three

Now you need to add a bevel layer style to the selection. To do this you need to press the effects tab which is located at the top right of the program. You then need to choose layer styles and choose bevels. All you need to do then is to drag the simple emboss style on to the selection. This will give the selection the emboss.

Stage Four

On the layers palette you need to press the fx symbol on the image layer. This can look like an F or FX symbol. In the Style Settings window, adjust the layer style settings. For example, check Drop Shadow and adjust the sliders to create a drop shadow. After this press OK.

Stage Five

Finally all you need to do now is to move the levels adjustment layer above the image. Then you need to press CTRL + G to make a clipping group. This will make the badge. The final thing is shown below.

Three Images Created to Meet a Clients Needs P4

Image One EnCert

EnCert is a new company that have asked me to make a new logo for their website and letterheads.

They provide certificates to home buyers to show how 'green' the house is. This is legal requirement for homes sold in the UK with 4 or more bedrooms.

Image Requirements

EnCert wants to make sure that the image shows they are a good clean source of energy and it also has to look professional as they are a quality company.

My Rough Design

Techniques Used

This image was create using 5 layers. 2 layers for the text and 3 layers for the images. The 2 circles were put on separate layers so i could choose which one would go on top of the other. The background image of the leaves was a new layer not a background.

Evaluation

This image catches the eye of the reader on the website or when they read EnCerts letter. You can clearly see that they want to be a clean energy provider from the image. You can clearly see that 'En' and 'Cert' are different as they have a capital letter before the word.

The text and the background are in green to show how 'green' the energy they supply is.

Image Two Vizual Impact

Microsoft has approached the company Vizual Impact to allow them to have a billboard poster at their next show. Microsoft want to have a poster showing off their new operating system.

Image Requirements

The image must be scaled down as if you were to make it full size it would be pixelated. The image needs to be scaled down correctly to show that you can get the size right. It needs to be able to fit onto a large piece of card.

My Rough Design

Techniques Used

This image was created using 6 layers. 4 layers are for the text and 2 layers are for the windows image and the black background. I have used a glow on the main windows text to give it more emphasis and make it stand out more. It also looks professional as there isn't a massive amount of colour everywhere.

Evaluation

I think that this image clearly states the new windows that is out. The large font for the text clearly states what the name of it is and what company has made it. The colours look good and make the text stand out over most things. The big logo stands out the most and this will grab most attention, this will then make people read on and see the new windows.

Image Three Roadside Sign

An organic fast food mobile has requested a new sign that they want to use by the side of the road to get people to go to the fast food mobile.

Image Requirements

The sign has to be large so that people driving can read it. The sign has to be scaled down as if it wasn't the sign would be pixelated. The sign needs to be in full colour and noticeable.

My Rough Design

Techniques Used

This image was created using 6 layers. 3 layers for text and 3 layers for images. I have used a glow on the text to make it stand out more and the image is big enough for people to see what it is. It is on a white background so it is ideal for a road side sign as white paper is usually what you buy to put in these, it is also cheaper.

Evaluation

I think that this image could have more emphasis on the food it is selling. For example put more images on the poster and slightly less big text. This would make the sign have more food on it and would look better. Although the text does stand out and grab your attention it could be more clearer.
